Overview

While the developed world is advanced in identifying and accommodating gifted persons, these individuals experience much suffering in developing countries as people don’t understand them; their unique traits and reasoning are met with bewilderment and hostility for they are often perceived as misfits. In self-defense and confusion they retreat to their cocoons or settle for average living, which is in constant clash with their true self. As a result their lives are fully packed with relational and developmental challenges.
For instance, gifted persons are perfectionists; they see things as they ought to be and when standards are not met they become frustrated. On the opposite extreme, gifted persons fear failure and humiliation and will safeguard their dignity from perceived humiliation even if it calls for rebellion or rubbing others the wrong way. Gifted individuals who do not have clear comprehension of their uniqueness will expect people to live by certain standards or see things in an ideal and intuitive manner but because the rest of the population does not operate at their level they become socially alienated due to their ‘strange’ ideas and behavior.
Failing to appreciate their unique personas compounds their problems as they grow into adulthood. From failing to connect in relationships with the average person to not finding a fulfilling career where they can optimally channel their potential. Challenges in career development are caused by various factors. One of the factors being they are multi-talented and therefore confining them to simple and routine roles under-utilizes their potential causing them to feel unfulfilled, as they thrive in handling complex issues. The other reason could be due to mismatch of roles versus their abilities. Gifted people excel more in advisory roles, problem-solving, innovative, creative etc.; roles that the average person considers complex. They also do well in running their own businesses.
Prolonged subjection to isolation and incomprehension of what they really are, may lead to health problems like depression (existential depression) and lifestyle diseases sparking from long-term depression while some may resort to destructive behaviors e.g. drug abuse, crime, suicide attempts etc.
What gifted individuals need is one; self-knowledge – this will help them understand there is nothing wrong with them as they are often made to believe. It also helps them in understanding people hence show more tolerance for their unequally intelligent brothers and sisters. Second, when they become comfortable with themselves and the world, they are able to identify the right platforms for channeling their potential and release their gifts to the world. Counselors and mentors also play a great role in pointing out their unique gifts and advising them on the best platforms to channel their potential for fulfilling careers and life.
Characteristics of gifted individuals are vast and distinct from one person to another and so are the challenges. Do you know a gifted person or are you one? Injustice: The Demon of Doom

Injustice is an age-old vice that has tormented humanity since sin found its way to the world. It’s an agent of regression that fights against humanity and posterity. Many mortals have been subject to the burdensome yoke of Injustice at one time or another. With advancing of age, Injustice has gained momentum and has become like a fierce tsunami; it has shaken crucial pillars of our society. The world is writhing in pain in the claws of the demon of doom. Injustice fans the flames of many social evils on one hand and squeezes life out of the dreams of its victims on the other. The despicable demon of doom has successfully managed to lord it over humans who apparently have a strange weak willpower to fight back. This vice is older than all of us; we come, suffer helplessly, lament endlessly and go. Every time a new life checks-in on earth, the world heaves a sigh of relief and rejoices that finally someone has arrived to take the bull by its horns and put to an end the rut

Is The Health Of A Nation A Reflection Of The Health Of Its Families?

Family is the basic unit of society. Therefore, it goes without saying that society is a composition of families. Hence, a morally ill society is a reflection of morally ill families. When we talk of social evils like corruption, injustice, misuse of power etc. more often we shift our focus to leaders forgetting that leadership is just a title; these people are children born and bred in our families. For instance, whenever a leader is exposed on issues of integrity or rather lack of it, we descend upon them with hate and criticism; we demonize them and even ostracize them. What hypocrisy! We adopt holier than thou attitudes and forget that we too are hanging on the same integrity scale; the only difference being, we’ve not been placed under an auditor’s lens (Almost every human being is or will be a leader at some point in their life. Whether you’re heading a nation, a religious body, a learning institution, a home etc. as long as someone is looking up to you for guidance, pro

Ignorance: The Silent Killer

Ignorance is the greatest known enemy of humanity. And who could have said it better than God through Prophet Hosea in a message to His chosen people (Israel)? He said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Most social evils in our society stem from ‘limited knowledge’ or 'lack of it'. Take a closer look at your life and recall how many mistakes you’ve made, how many opportunities you’ve missed out, how many ugly outcomes you were unable to prevent etc. all because you were not in the know. A person’s quality of life is to a great extent determined by what they know. The more you’re aware of your circumstances and how to deal with them (i.e. good understanding of your inner potential and how you can tap it and leverage it, coupled with a good understanding of the systems in the world, because a person cannot function in isolation) the greater your chances of experiencing a better life. In short, much suffering plaguing humanity would be avoided if knowledge ch
